We're trying something new.
The World Debate Forum is still working hard to create more conversations around debate, to bring together Educators, Advocates and Competitors. We've run 4 events since 2011 (Gaborone, Manila, Delhi, Berlin), but to really reach everyone, we're going to take online.
So no fees, no costs, and the most flexible schedule ever. Just your ideas.
Of all the things debaters talk about, they don't talk enough about debate. How can we make this community stronger? How can we learn from, teach, help, support each other?
Our plan is to bring together different groups of debate enthusiasts, people who love this activity but from different perspectives. To some of us, debate is first a competition, a way to hone our persuasive skills, develop our intellect, expand our horizons. To others is an amazing educational tool, an activity that challenges students, develops their perspectives and gives them ownership over knowledge. Other believe debate is most importantly a tool of advocacy, a way to develop open societies, to empower people's voices, to help increase understanding and tolerance.
The World Debate Forum believes that Debate is all three and we invite you to highlight what's great about these different aspects and work together to make them stronger. Debate doesn't change the world, but empowered debaters do, and by working together, we empower ourselves.
